Q: What is a frozen annuity?
A: A frozen annuity is when a person retired under PSERS and returned to qualified employment in a Pennsylvania public school as an active contributing member (not under the emergency employment provision). The value of the annuity is "frozen." As the member continues to work, the service is not added to the original service, but accumulates separately.
