There are two types of employment opportunities available with the Public School Employees' Retirement System. They are civil service and non-civil service positions.
Civil Service Positions
The majority of positions located within the Public School Employees' Retirement System are civil service. An examination is usually necessary to obtain a civil service position within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The
State Civil Service Commission is responsible for conducting examinations for Commonwealth civil service positions.
